How to Choose a Personalised Song Service
Search for a personalised song and the quotes come back anywhere from about £10 to several hundred pounds. Some of that gap is a genuinely different product. A lot of it is not. Here is how to tell which is which before you pay.
Two things share the name
Commissioned artist services
A real songwriter or recording artist is assigned to your brief, and writes, performs and records the song. Songfinch is the best known example.
Expect well over £100, and days or weeks rather than minutes. Rush delivery usually costs extra. Genuinely different, and worth it if you want a specific human performance and have the time and the budget.
Studio services
The song is produced in a studio pipeline from the details you give, which is why it arrives the same day instead of a fortnight later. CreateMySong is one of these. So are most of the UK services you will find in a search.
This is where the price gap is hardest to explain. Within this one category, UK services range from £9.99 to £99.99 for a broadly similar core product: a bespoke song, written from your story, delivered as a download.
UK prices side by side
| Service | Price | Delivery | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| CreateMySong | £9.99 / £14.99 / £19.99 | About 10 minutes | Free 60-second preview before you pay, one revision included, two variations and a lyrics sheet at Premium, instrumental and a memory video at VIP. |
| personalisedsong.co.uk | £39.99 / £64.99 / £99.99 | 24 to 48 hours | MP3 and WAV and a printable lyric sheet at £39.99. £64.99 adds cover art, release to Spotify and Apple Music, and a QR lyric sheet. £99.99 adds a physical CD posted within 10 days. |
| Songfinch | Well over £100 | Days to weeks | A commissioned artist writes and records the song. A different product rather than a more expensive version of the same one. |
To be fair to the more expensive services, some of that money buys things we do not offer: a WAV master, release to Spotify and Apple Music, printed artwork, a physical CD. If you specifically want your song on streaming platforms or posted through the door on a disc, they are the ones to look at. What is harder to justify is paying four times as much for the core thing, a bespoke song written from your story and delivered as a download.
What you get for the difference
You hear yours before you pay anything. A free 60-second preview made from your own story, no card required. Nearly everyone else takes the money first. This matters more than any claim on any website, including ours: you judge the actual song rather than the marketing.
Same day, not next week. About ten minutes, with Premium and VIP in a priority queue, and no rush fee because there is no queue to jump. The £39.99 tier elsewhere quotes 48 hours.
A revision is included, and a person handles it. If a detail is wrong, tell us and we redo it free of charge, one revision per order. You are emailing a two-person UK studio.
The extras are in the price, not bolted on. Premium at £14.99 gives two variations and a printable lyrics sheet. VIP at £19.99 adds an instrumental and a memory video made from your photos. That is still less than a third of the entry price at the established UK services.
Six questions to ask any service
- Can you hear it before you pay? The single most useful check. Everything else is a claim; a preview made from your own brief is evidence.
- What does the price actually include? One track, or variations, a WAV, an instrumental, artwork, a video? Is delivery extra? Does faster cost more?
- How long, in calendar days? Check whether a quoted turnaround is calendar or business days, and what rush delivery costs.
- Where do the words come from? Are the lyrics built from the details you give, and can you supply your own instead?
- What happens if something is wrong? How many revisions, and does a change mean an edit or a whole new recording?
- What are you allowed to do with it? Play it at an event, post it publicly, use it commercially? Licensing is the most skipped question and the likeliest to matter later.
When we are not the right choice
- You want a named recording artist attached, or a say in who performs it. That is a commissioned service, not this.
- You want the song released to Spotify and Apple Music, or pressed onto a physical CD. We do not offer either.
- You need a WAV master rather than an MP3.
- You need full commercial rights for advertising, broadcast or resale. The standard licence is personal use, though commercial terms can be discussed.
- You want to iterate over days with notes between drafts. One revision is included, but this is not an open-ended collaboration.
Common questions
Why do personalised songs range from £10 to £100 for the same thing?
Partly because two different products share the name. A commissioned artist service pays a real songwriter to write and record, which is why it costs well over £100 and takes days or weeks. Studio services produce the song from your brief and deliver the same day. Within that second group the range is still wide: UK services run from £9.99 to £99.99, and the extra money mostly buys add-ons such as a WAV master, cover art, release to streaming platforms or a physical CD rather than a better core song.
How much should a personalised song cost?
Decide the category first. Commissioned artist services generally run well over £100. Studio services in the UK run from about £9.99 to £99.99. CreateMySong is £9.99 for one song, £14.99 for two variations plus a lyrics sheet, and £19.99 for two variations plus an instrumental and a memory video.
What is the difference between CreateMySong and Songfinch?
They are different products. Songfinch commissions a real artist to write and record your song, which is why it costs well over £100 and takes days or weeks. CreateMySong produces the song in a studio pipeline from your brief, from £9.99 and usually in about ten minutes.
What is the most important thing to check before ordering?
Whether you can hear something real, made from your own brief, before paying. It is the only check that tells you what your song will actually sound like rather than what the marketing says.
Can you use a personalised song commercially?
Usually not under a standard consumer licence. Most services, CreateMySong included, grant a personal, non-commercial licence covering private use, private events and personal social media. Commercial use normally needs a separate agreement.
Do not take our word for it
Get a free 60-second preview made from your own story and judge the song itself. No card needed. That is the whole argument.
