Personalised Lullaby

A lullaby with their name in it

Soft, slow and written for one child. You give us the baby's name and a line or two about them, and we write a lullaby that sings it back. It is the one that gets kept, long after the babygrows have been grown out of.

What is a personalised lullaby?

A personalised lullaby is a gentle, slow song written for one particular child, with their name sung into it. You give us the baby's name, the parents' names and a little about them. We write the words and record it, and it arrives in about ten minutes as an MP3 with a lyric sheet. Prices start at £9.99 and you can hear a free preview before you pay anything.

Why It Works

Why a lullaby, and not another gift

Who It Is For

Written by whoever loves them

Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents, friends. If you are wondering whether it is an odd thing to give, it is not. It is the thing people remember you gave.

When To Give It

New babies, christenings and first birthdays

The Name

Unusual spellings, said properly

The name is the whole reason to buy one, so it has to be right. If it is not spelled the way it sounds, say so in the brief, for example "Niamh is said neev" or "Saoirse is said sur-sha". We sing it that way and the lyric sheet still spells it properly. Then make the free preview and listen. You will know in sixty seconds whether we have it, and you will not have paid to find out.

What is a personalised lullaby?

A personalised lullaby is a soft, slow song written for one particular child, with their name sung into it. You give us the baby's name, the parents' names and a line or two about them. We write the words and record it, and it arrives in about ten minutes as an MP3 with a lyric sheet. Prices start at 9.99 pounds.

Can you really put a baby's name in the song?

Yes, and it is the whole point of it. The name is written onto a long held note in the chorus and repeated through the song, so it is the part people remember rather than something mentioned once in passing.

What if the name has an unusual spelling?

Tell us how it sounds when you write the brief. Names like Niamh, Saoirse or Aoife are not always pronounced the way they are spelled, so add a line such as 'Niamh is said neev' and we will make sure it is sung that way. The lyric sheet still shows the name spelled properly. Hear the free preview first and you will know straight away whether it is right.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants one. Parents write them for their own child, and so do grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents and friends bringing something to a baby shower. It tends to be chosen by whoever wants to give something that is not another babygrow.

Is it for the baby or for the grown ups?

Both, at different times. A newborn will not remember it, so the moment you are buying is hearing their name sung back for the first time. The child gets it later, as something that was made for them before they could talk.

Will it actually get a baby to sleep?

We would not sell it on that. It is a keepsake rather than a sleep aid, and no song works reliably on a baby who has decided otherwise. It is soft, slow and quiet, so it is pleasant to put on at bedtime, but the reason to buy it is the name and the words.

Is it suitable for a christening or a naming day?

Yes. A lullaby with the child's name in it works well as a christening or naming day gift, and it can be played at the gathering itself. If you would like the godparents or a particular family member mentioned, put that in the brief and we will work it in.

Can I hear it before I pay?

Yes. You can make a free 60 second preview first, with a short voice-over on it so it cannot be used as the finished song. You get two free previews per email address and no card details are needed.

How long is the lullaby?

Usually two to three minutes. It is meant as a keepsake to play and to keep, not a long sleep track, so it is the length of an ordinary song rather than an hour of background sound.

What if it is not right?

Tell us and we will remake it once, free. One revision is included with every order. Most changes are small, such as a name spelling or a detail we should have leaned on harder.
